No to the new Marlins stadium

I get so fired up every time I see a headline regarding the new Marlins stadium proposal. The people that argue that it will bring lots of jobs to the locals are just crazy. And what proof is there that a new stadium will bring more fans? That school of thought is acceptable in communities that support their teams: Philadelphia, Detroit, or San Diego as examples. The best part of this situation was that the Orange Bowl got ripped down in preparation.

I am watching the World Baseball Classic tonight with Venezuela vs. Puerto Rico at Dolphins Stadium. This is the same stadium the Marlins play in and there are so many more fans it doesn't even compare to a Marlins game. It's great to see and evidence that if the community actually cared they would go to games.

The Marlins need to change their business strategies, marketing, and whatever else needs to be done...Not get a new stadium. Maybe if they could fill their current one with fans I'd support their endeavors. The taxpayers should definitely not be paying for this new facility. And they should stop wasting everyone's time with arguing about it.

Miami or USF, which is the better football ticket?

Will someone please tell me how the USF Bulls football program continues to pack Raymond James Stadium in Tampa...while the Miami Hurricanes, or should I say the "U" can't fill up Dolphins Stadium or better yet stopped filling up the Orange Bowl?

Aren't the Hurricanes supposed to be some kind of all-time regime? I know the sports market in Miami sucks, but is it really that much better in Tampa?

Why don't people want to go to Hurricanes football games?

And by the way, this was a series of rhetorical questions...but I would enjoy some accurate comments regarding the recent attendance of each school.

Dolphins rant

Will someone please tell me why the Miami Dolphins picked up Chad Pennington? They solidified the deal in a matter of minutes after the Jets picked up Brett Favre. Stop and think... Why didn't the Dolphins go after Favre then? Don't even bother saying he's not long term enough for the Tuna's new regime. What's wrong with wanting to win games?

And how is it possible Zach Thomas and Jason Taylor are no longer with the squad either? Gone in the same year none the less.

I was a season ticket holder for 2 years, '05-'06 & '06-'07. Upper deck 400 section middle endzone tickets for $290/yr. I thought it was a great deal at the time. Getting in to the season ticket rotation right before the Dolphins got better. Now it's a few years later and who know how many games we'll win...1, 2, 5? I got out of the commitment after year two when I couldn't scalp my extra tickets for more than $10. Most people laughed at me for that much.

And now they are letting the Hurricanes play at Joe Robbie. Who knows what's next. I guess the bet is that if they fill up all of the seats combined between Saturday and Sunday, everything's gravy.

I think everything went down hill when Nick Saban passed on Devin Hester. The Bears really cleaned up on him. How much more exciting would games have been with a home town guy running back kicks like he does. -and this is coming from a Gator fan.

Go Gators.
